The ITIRT Final Report, recently delivered to the US Department of Homeland Security, presents results from an evaluation of iris recognition accuracy, interoperability, and usability. ITIRT test director Michael Thieme will discuss test methodology, results, and relevance to deployers and end users.

- Areas in which ITIRT results increased our understanding of iris recognition performance
- How the ITIRT methodology was applied to assess performance across test subjects and test systems
- How ITIRT results can be mapped to real-world application requirements
Iris recognition has become an increasingly viable solution for border control, immigration, registered traveler, access control, and national ID initiatives. ITIRT represents the largest independently-conducted test of iris recognition executed to date. ITIRT evaluated performance of the following state-of-the-art iris recognition hardware and software:
More than 100,000 iris images were acquired through ITIRT devices over a several-week period. Dozens of images were acquired from each of 1288 subjects varying in age and ethnicity. From this data, over 2 billion data points were generated for performance analysis.
